Zeus is Rhea's sixth child. His father, Kronos, is a second generation god. Kronos had defied his father and succeeded him. Foreseeing that his own end would come in the same way, Kronos therefore swallowed his five children… His mother prayed to Mother Earth Gaia and Starry Sky Uranus so that Zeus, his sixth and last child, would not suffer the same fate as his siblings. They also sent Rhea to Lyktos on the island of Crete. When his mother, the goddess Rhea, gave birth to Zeus, she immediately kidnapped him to Crete and locked him in a cave.
